  1. Shutter-A mechanical device of a camera that controls the duration of a photographic exposure, as by opening and closing to allow light coming through the lens to expose a plate or film.
  2. Speeds (write out each speed and identify faster and slower speeds)- also known as exposure time is the effective length of time a camera's shutter is open. The total exposure is proportional to the duration of light reaching the film or image sensor.
  3. Shutter Priority-an automatic exposure system in which the photographer selects the shutter speed and the camera then automatically sets the correct aperture.
  4. Aperture-A space through which light passes in a photographic instrument or variable opening by which light enters a camera.
  5. ISO/ASA- The higher the ISO/ASA rating the more sensitive the film or CCD/CMOS sensor is to light.
  6. Exposure Triangle- The exposure triangle is a simple illustration allowing understanding  to how exposure is controlled.
  7. "B" or Bulb- A shutter speed setting on an adjustable camera that allows for long exposure times under the direct control of the photographer. With this setting, the shutter stays open as long as the shutter release button remains pressed.
  8. Cable Release- a short length of cable, used to operate the shutter of a camera without moving it.
  9. Tripod- A three-legged stand for holding up a camera.
  10. Bracketing-The general technique of taking several shots of the same subject using different camera settings.
